Opus Soup: Anagram, Not Food
This year Opus Soup will be held on Wednesday, April 24th at 7pm in the Fried-Hemenway Auditorium in the Martha Miller Center! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this even, here is what you need to know:
Opus Soup is a bi-annual event serving to release the newly printed copies of Opus and to provide a space for students whose work has been published to share their creativity with others. Student writers are given the chance to publicly read their pieces and student artists can explain their creative process. Students can answer questions about their pieces or ask about other students’s work. The event is free and copies of Opus are free. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the creativity of Hope’s student body.
Regarding the subject line of this post, a long time ago someone realized that the letters in “Opus” are the same letters in “soup” so this event was named “Opus Soup”. The coming together of many different people, genres of writing and art, and perspectives can be captured in the metaphor of a delicious soup whose broth is filled with many different kinds of vegetables, meat, and/or pasta.
