Pantoum of Light; Aluma

The first thing to appear in front of my eyes, was Light

It consumed all I was and it surrounded my heart

It was my power, more than what my “family” expected

That strength could free me, could change my Fate

It consumed all I was and it surrounded my heart

I hadn’t ever felt so strong as when he smiled at me

That strength could free me, could change my Fate

He became my brother, my dearest friend

I hadn’t ever felt so strong as when he smiled at me

But he’s gone now, consumed by the darkness

He became my brother, my dearest friend

My Light should have saved him, I tried

But he’s gone now, consumed by the darkness

His smiled turned bitter and wicked

My Light should have saved him, I tried

But now I stare at him as he talks

His smile turned bitter and wicked

He’s not my brother anymore

But now I stare at him as he talks

I close my eyes and Hope.

He’s not my brother anymore

He made that clear when he turned away, months ago

I closed my eyes and Hope.

Maybe I could do better now, bring him back, but he won’t come

He made that clear when he turned away, months ago

I hear footsteps approaching, eyes still squeezed closed

Maybe I could do better now, bring him back, but he won’t come

I start to open my eyes, deep breath

I hear footsteps approaching, eyes still squeezed closed

I know those aren’t his footsteps but I hope

I start to open my eyes, deep breath

The first thing to appear in front of my eyes, was Light
