Art is Everywhere at Hope College

Hello fellow lovers of art and the English language!
Running a little low on inspiration? Come and visit the Art and Poetry exhibit in the DePree Art Gallery! The exhibit features works of art paired with poems, each work complementing and completing each other. The curator, Charles Mason states “The goal of the exhibition is to increase awareness of the power of visual art and poetry to magnify one another and to enrich all our lives,” as quoted on the website for the exhibition, http://hope.edu/academic/art/GALLERY/index.html.  The exhibit includes many works by current and graduated students, as well as works loaned to the gallery and works from the permanent collection of the Kruizenga Art Museum, still under construction. Open until September 28, the gallery is a wonderful display of the variety of talent present on Hope’s campus. Be inspired by your fellow classmates, and show the community what you have to offer by submitting your literary and studio art works to Opus by September 20!
Don’t forget about the Jack Ridl Visiting Writing Series either! Starting on September 18, this semester’s speakers include poets Katherine Bode-Lang, Laura Donnelly, Adria Matejka, Orlando Menes, and Marvin Bell; cartoonist Bob Mankoff; and authors EJ Levy and Joe Wilkins.
